Abhayalam Charitable Trust based in Kochi needs your help to rebuild the lives after the devastating Kerala floods. The worst floods in a century shattered our lives. It displaced us (23 mentally challenged and homeless) away from our home -“Abhayalayam".
Kerala floods partially drowned our institution to a 7 feet height. It left our place with unlivable condition and surroundings. Most of our beds broken, mattresses drenched & unhygienic to reuse, electronic equipment, furniture, clothes, kitchen utensils, water pump and even the most important documents/certificates were all damaged and washed away. The compound walls of our institution destroyed.
Our father and guardian angel- N O Sebastian is in a helpless situation to bring us back to our shelter. Only your generous contributions can help him rebuild ABHAYALAYAM and make it a livable place. If you believe it is your duty to help us and make a difference to our lives, please join the rebuilding efforts of Abhayalayam. Contribute generously for a good cause.
“Abhayalayam is a Charitable Trust registered with the Government of Kerala, India since 1999 (Registration No. ER 284 - Samadhan Welfare Service Society). Founded with the intention of providing a safe home with food, clothing and medicines, for the homeless and disabled from the streets. Abhayalayam is equally focused on helping the mentally challenged to live in an environment where they are cared for, loved and understood.
Mental retardation has no cure in medical science. It is a disability and not a disease. Mentally retarded persons need support throughout their life. It is very difficult for them to become completely independent physically, mentally or even financially. Hence, an institution like Abhayalayam is always here to provide support to mentally challenged children and adults in the society.
